USA IN THE FINAL OF WORLD CUP!!!!

Wow. The USA womens world cup team won the semi-final against France today!! It was an awesome game with USA's early goal with a sweet cross for an easy finish. However, in the second half France equalized the game and took the momentum, actually making the game seem to be in danger of falling to them. But, on a breakaway, the US got their momentum back though they did not score on it. From that point on, they continually had possession and barraged the French goal with shots and chances until, by the end of the game, getting two more to make the final score 3-1 in the USA's favor!! Then in the other semi final game, japan won over sweden, so we'll be playing them on sunday at 1:00 pm!!!! on to the final!!!!!!

We Won!!! On to Semi-finals!!

Great news! On Sunday, we (by which I mean the USA Women's World Cup team) won the quarterfinal game (which is in the knockout stage, meaning that one of the teams will be eliminated) against Brazil!! It was an amazing game, with an equalizing goal that kept the US alive in the tournament in the 122nd minute, (which is in the 2nd minute of stoppage time in the 2nd period of extra time) meaning that they scored the latest goal in the history of world cups!! That kept us alive to proceed to the penalty kicks stage, which the US won by the making of all five of their kicks, and their goalkeeper saving one of Brazil's kicks, making the final score of penalty kicks 5-4, after the tied game being 2-2. The late goal was from a perfect and precise cross from Megan Rapinoe to Abby Wambach who headed into the near post's net for an amazing point. Now we're heading on Wednesday to meet France!!!

2011 Womens World Cup!

Well, this year encompasses the Womens' world cup!!!! Though it's not quite as big a deal as the mens' world cup of last year, it still is a lot of fun to watch!!! USA has already clinched a spot in the quarter finals (their opener in the 1/4s is on sunday either at 5:30 am or 10 am, depending on the outcome of the matches in the following days) and they have their last non-knockout stage game tomorrow against sweden at 1:30 pm to decide whether they win their group as the top seed or not. They only have to tie the game to clinch that spot, but regardless of the outcome, loss, win, or draw, they will proceed to the next round. :D hooray!!
